"...Hugs for Jacky Newcomb and her collection of angel stories.”
Darcie D. Sims
American Grief Academy
I love writing poetry and my poems have been sprinkled throughout my angel stories books. Here are just three of them.
People often ask if they may have permission to read them out at funerals (and I am honoured that you feel they may help). Of course the answer is yes! Do please write and let me know so I can say a prayer for your lost loved ones.
The Mourning Cross (and symbol/pins)
One of my poems has been used on the display card of a little pin you wear when mourning. It's a clever way of identifying who the mourners are (expecially when the funeral is attended by long lost relatives and old family friends) and I was delighted for my poetry to be used on the back of the cards after being told it was comforting to people.

Where do we go when its time to leave?
It’s my time
Through the tunnel of light, where it’s clear and bright
It’s my time
My friends are all waiting on the other side
I’m a little bit scared but my angel’s at my side
It’s my time
I know you’ll cry
But it’s my time
I know you’ll be wondering ‘why, why why?’
But it’s my time
I can’t stay on Earth where my work is done
Heaven is great, I’m happy and its fun
It’s my time
I’ll always love you and you’ll always love me
But it’s my time
Never forget me but I want you to move on
‘Coz it’s my time
All good things must come to an end
You’re in my heart, and you’ll always be my friend
But it’s my time
Although we must part it’s only for a while
It’s not your time
Make me proud, as you carry on
It’s not your time
I’ll wait for you, till you’re old and grey
I’m sorry that you have to stay
It’s not your time
Life is precious, and although it’s not the same
It’s not your time
Life will go on I think you’ll find
It’s not your time
I want you to promise that while I am away
You’ll love one another I hope and pray…you’ll understand my darling
It’s my time, It’s my time…It’s my time

Look Mum, I’m a butterfly,
I’m the stars in the sky,
I cannot die.
Watch me, now I’m free,
Look and see.
Hey Mum, I‘m the air that you breathe,
I’m the birds in the trees,
I’m the flowers and the seeds.
Look Mum I’m deep in your heart,
We’re never apart,
…I’m all around.
Look Mum, I’m a butterfly,
I’m the stars in the sky,
I cannot die…

I saw you standing at my grave
…but I’m still here
I saw you turn and say goodbye, you waved
…but I’m still here
I heard you call my name as you slept last night,
I felt your pain and fear and fright
…but I’m still here
I heard you wonder how you’d cope alone
…but I’m still here
I heard you sob I heard you moan
…but I’m still here
I saw you as you held your head in your hands,
With the world still full of your time’s demands
…but I’m still here
I held you in my arms today
…I’m still here
I felt your response because you knew there was a way
…I’m still here
I know you felt my hand as it brushed against your cheek,
I haven’t left your side, I’ve been here all week
…I’m still here
I have a new home where I now reside
…but I’m still here
Love is still the same from the ‘other side’
…and I’m still here
From time to time I’ll pop in and say hello,
I’m really sorry that I had to go
…but I’m still here
It’s my greatest wish that you live each day
…knowing I’m still here
Life must carry on and I know you’ll find a way
…knowing I’m still here
I promise one day, there’ll be an ease to the pain,
And I want you to begin to live your life again
…knowing I’m still here
You still have so much more of your life to live
…but I’m still here
Your beautiful soul has such a lot to give
…and I’m still here
Lots more dancing, singing and fun,
Parties to attend and things to be done
…and remember…I’m still here

I am near you can you feel me?
Can you sense my wings around you?
Do you know that I’m beside you?
Can you tell you’re not alone?

There's a Robin that taps on my window
He seems to have something to say
He visits me every morning
Before he goes on his way
A Robin visits my garden
He seems to know when and where
I feel like he brings me a message
And always knows I'll be there
The Robin feels so familiar
I'm sure he's bringing a sign
The way he moved and the way he acts
It seems like something divine
Maybe the Robin's from heaven
A messenger sent from above
Making it clear that everything's fine
And bringing the gift of love
The Robin picks up my sadness
The Robin feels my pain
But now that I've got his message
I hope he still comes back again

It’s time to go to Heaven
I’m leaving now, I’ve packed my case
I’m off to meet my friends; they’re waiting up in heaven
They’re preparing my new place
Parents always worry, when their children first leave home
It’s always hard to let them go,
We never feel they’re grown
But now my spirit’s set to flower, my soul is near to bloom
But I’ll never really leave you
You know I’ll see you soon
You’ll feel me hold your soft, warm hand
You’ll keep me in your heart
It’s time to go to heaven now – I hope you’ll understand
